Hi, my name is Carla and I am a DIY girl when it comes to home design and interiors. I love to create beautiful things and spaces for the home. I have two beautiful adult children, an awesome husband and two adorable doodle dogs! We moved to the beach full time several years ago when we decided to downsize and get on track for our retirement years. My husband and I eloped 29 years ago and married on the beach right here in Miramar Beach, FL. We started here and I guess we will finish here.
I started this blog and website because my family and friends kept telling me I needed to start a business after seeing my projects. While I plan to blog about my projects with details of how-to’s, I also hope to gain new clients that prefer someone else to do the work. While my children are my greatest accomplishment in this life, I am an empty nester and needed a project or hobby to keep me busy. I love that my hobby has become a passion and opportunity for a new career at age 55.
My other passion is a cure for cancer. I am grateful to be alive after surviving an aggressive form of breast cancer when I was 42. After a bilateral mastectomy, dense dose chemo, and reconstruction I came out on the other side and have been cancer free for almost 14 years! Unfortunately, I lost both of my parents to cancer and I hope and pray there is a cure soon. So from time to time you may see a blog about beating cancer or new advances in treatments and I hope you will bear with me if that is not your cup of tea.
On a lighter note, I graduated from the University of Alabama as did one of my children. We are die hard Bama fans but love the SEC and all college football. So please don’t hold that against me if you love Auburn or another team. I will definitely keep that out of my blog posts! I hope you will join me by subscribing to my blog and follow me on this great adventure I have embarked on. Who knows where it will lead, but if nothing else I hope it provides some entertainment, education and some good hearty laughs.
